A woman with short blonde hair sitting on a red leather couch with wooden flooring and a plain white brick wall background. She is smiling, wearing a purple suit and pink sneakers, with one arm resting on the armrest.

“On the Couch” offers audiences an intimate dive into the life, creative process and psyche of some of Australia’s most compelling artists, writers and thinkers.

Far from a traditional “in conversation” format, the show explores the emotional and psychological realities of creative life, from self-doubt and ambition to success, failure, ego and identity.

Each edition of “On the Couch” is unique, with a new line-up of guests appearing for every show. The shows are intentionally not recorded. Audiences get to experience the intimacy and connection that can only happen in the room.

Known for its warmth, candour and vulnerability, “On the Couch” has built a loyal following among audiences seeking something more meaningful than a standard panel discussion or artist interview.

“I’ve always been fascinated by what makes artists tick and the processes they go through to create their work. But also, how do they navigate success and failure? How do they avoid the traps of comparison and ego? It’s such a deeply human journey.”

Beck Lister, show host

“Beck’s curiosity and the safety she creates for her guests allows her to explore with depth and humour their creative processes, vulnerabilities and convictions. All punctuated by the smooth groove of Douglas Lee Robertson's tunes!”

Roger, audience member.

“It's a helluva show! A sparkling host, guests galore and the theme song alone is worth the price of admission!”

Charles Jenkins, singer songwriter

“With Beck Lister in the driver’s seat, you know you’re in for a fun road trip.  Great host, great conversation, great concept…oh, and quite a nice couch.”
